James Bell Johnston of East Angus, Quebec, a Canadian who graduated in medicine at University of Edinburgh, in 1833. He was the first doctor to establish a practice in Sherbrooke, Quebec. He is the father of Wyatt Galt Johnston (M.D., C.M., McGill, 1884).
Fonds documents J.B. Johnston’s professional activities from 1839 to 1859. It also includes his medical thesis De delirio tremente, Edinburgh, 1833. The fonds contains a logbook with notes, summaries of readings, reports of unusual medical cases and obstetrical list, and his medical thesis.
Acc. 892 was presented to the Osler Library by Dr. T.J. Quintin, Sherbrooke, Quebec. Old accession numbers 71 and 892.
